PARKLANDS HOME OWNERS ASSOCIATION

The need for a sports & recreational facility in the fast growing family suburb of Parklands has been established. The children of the neighbourhood need a suitable and safe environment in which to participate in sport.
The Parklands Sports Complex is situated on the cnr of Dorchester Drive and Avonmouth Avenue in Parklands and is slowly becoming a reality. The complex will not only contribute to a healthy lifestyle for our children but will also help us forge a Parklands identity.

Last year we sent out an Association Notice asking each resident for an R200.00 donation towards the fundraising efforts of the sports complex. Unfortunately, to date, only the PHOA Trustees and 3 of the residents in the area have donated. There are 8000 homes in Parklands and should each contribute R200, we could end up with R1 600 000. Now fundraising efforts seem a little more realistic!

The site development plan for the sports complex has been finalised. This will include 2 full utility fields and a 6 lane 400m Athletics Track. Something that is required in the greater Table View area. Imagine not having to travel to Bellville or Parow for all athletics events !!

A number of fundraising initiatives have been launched. The local schools in the area have assisted in generating awareness and contributing financially to the Sports Complex through their many civvies days that they’ve had in support of the sports complex. The Table View Lions Club is also on board and is assisting with fundraising.

The initial stage, phase 1, was estimated to cost in the region of R1.7 million. Through hard work, patience and perseverance, the fundraising committee have managed to get suppliers on board who support the sports complex initiative. Phase 1 will now cost R750k !! This will include the levelling of the ground, irrigation, grassing and fencing. There’s no telling what we can achieve once this has been completed.

In order to bring this project to fruition we need every resident of Parklands to realise its worth and to make a contribution, no matter how small. We are also imploring local business and concerned individuals to assist in building a Parklands legacy that will serve many generations to come.
This is our last chance!! If we are unable to raise the funds for this project, we will lose this piece of land. Parklands remain’s one of the fastest growing suburbs in the Western Cape, if not the country. The area is running out of land suitable for the establishment of a sports complex. It would be a grave pity should we not be able to raise the funds for something of such beneficial use to our community, where everyone from children to adults to the elderly can participate in sports and community events.

Donate your R200 today !! 2 Easy Steps – Pay R200 (cash, cheque, eft, whatever your preference) & email proof (including your erf no) to parklandsport@wo.co.za. Should the project not be successful, your money will be refunded. Our bank details are: FNB, Account Number 62219108827, Table View Branch, Code 203809, Ref: Name+Erf no.
The aim to get the development of the sports complex off the ground seems far more realistic than what it was before. To find out how you can make your mark on the Parklands Landscape contact Mandy at parklandsport@wo.co.za or 021 557 3231.

History

The suburb of Parklands began in 1997 when the owners, The Milnerton Estates Limited and their agents Aska Property Group (Proprietary) Limited, started developing and selling erven in phases to the public. Parklands Home Owners Association (PHOA) was formally constituted simultaineously with registration of the transfer of the first of the erven. A constitution was drawn up with various provisions, members obligations, development conditions and objectives. The association has come a long way over the years with offices for the past 3 years situated in the Main Road of Parklands.

Object

The PHOA has as its object to promote a high standard of residential development, to administer and enforce the Development Conditions and to control the transfer of erven and units in the development in terms of the Development Conditions and conditions imposed by the Local Authority restricting transfer.
