Political parties in Cape Town have expressed their unhappiness resulting from continued developments planned for Parklands. Parklands is a suburb located in the West Coast of Cape Town. It is surrounded by Tableview and Blouberg.
It is not clear as to why there is unhappiness as it has emerged that all building plans were approved by Cape Town municipality. The planned developments form part of phase three which will consist of more than 200 new houses. The development debate was resolved by voting which saw the development being approved by one vote which gave it a go ahead.
One of the concerns raised by the opposing parties is that more developments in Parklands will result in traffic congestion. The opposing parties were the African National Congress (ANC), the African Christian Democratic Party (ACPD) and the Independent Democrats (ID). The Democratic Alliance (DA) which holds the majority in the council won the contest. The DA argued that the new Buss Rapid Transit (BRT) will ease the traffic load as it is nearing it completion stage.
